11 Jan, 2019
Ms. Rashmi Kunzru, a well-known trained counsellor and psychologist, shared with students on Friday evening the potential to utilize the talent pool of ethnic minorities for promoting workplace diversity. She first illustrated the statistics and circumstances of education and employment distributions of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong, reflecting the common prejudice and stereotyping that have hampered corporate social responsibility in business. Rashimi pointed out HR profession has a central role in addressing workplace discrimination, ensuring that people management practice and organization cultures are built on the principles of trust, quality, fairness and inclusion. She has invited Mr Sunny Lau, an Organizing Officer from Lady MacLehose Centre, to suggest some after support services for non-Chinese employees. For example, organizing cultural integration program is one of the great ways to help employers assimilate employees across different cultures and social norms to develop inclusive workplaces for greater cohesion, harmony and productivity.
