What is the class size?

We emphasise small-class teaching with maximum interaction between students and the instructor.

When does the programme start?

In September every year.

How long does the programme last?

The part-time programme takes two years to complete.

When are the classes held?

Each class takes 5 days (from 2021-22 academic year) which are scheduled on weekend to accommodate those who work full-time. You can click here to view the Class Schedule.

Are there any examinations?

The assessment will be based on class participation, individual assignment, and group project.

What is Action Learning Approach?

Action learning is a method to enhance student learning capacity in the classroom. The approach involves case study, group discussion, and presentation, which combines theory and practice. The process promotes curiosity, inquiry, and reflection. Action learning is an important vehicle to convert thoughts into action, and ultimately, provide solutions to real life situations.

Do I need to write a thesis?

You need to complete a group based consulting project that resolves HR or management issues in a client organisation.

What is the quality of the teaching staff? Who will teach the course?

The teaching team is an esteemed group of scholars and practitioners. It consists of HKBU faculty members and international professors who have extensive research and consulting experience. For details, please refer to the Faculty page.

Is the degree recognised?

The degree is accredited by two international bodies – AACSB and EQUIS. It is also endorsed by the Hong Kong Institute of HRM.It is Level 6 under the Qualifications Framework (QF) of The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

MScSHRM is mapped against the CIPD’s core knowledge and core behavioural standards of the Profession Map to the Chartered level standards. As the CIPD Approved Centre, MScSHRM students need to join as a Student member throughout the duration of their studies in order to gain CIPD Associate membership. On successful completion of MScSHRM programme, graduates will gain CIPD Associate membership and will be eligible to upgrade to either Chartered Member or Chartered Fellow providing they are able to demonstrate the relevant skills and behaviours in accordance with the membership criteria for these levels.
